Keep in mind that all models are built to the same BskyB specification and have exactly the same menu structure (except Sky+). The difference therefore between boxes is negligible so choose whatever you thinks looks best.
Digiboxes are made under licence by Amstrad, Pace, Grundig and Thomson. The Panasonic 30 or 31, although discontinued, are accepted to be quick reacting and capable of processing weaker signals, thus making them the ideal choice for European use.
The only 12v box is the Pace 1000 MiniBox which has now been discontinued.
›› European Satellite, an alternative?
If you are not interested in the Sky channels specifically and just want to keep up on the news, try looking at the European FTA digiboxes and pointing you're dish at Hotbird instead of Astra (Sky). There are far more free channels available from the various different satellites that provide content to the mainland Europe. These will of course have a large proportion of foreign language channels, but almost all of them broadcast some content in English including the major news channels like CNN.
It is far easier to align your FTA box on a European satellite which means that you will be set up far quicker when you arrive at your pitch. The European satellites have much wider "footprints" than Sky and so much smaller dishes are needed.
